Why should you follow this blog?  Because, we all need a little “cents” of thriftiness in our busy lives!

Here’s a bit of a background as to who I am:

My name is Dawn and am married to my best friend Matthew, of whom I met in the second grade.  Although we did not date while in school, he is still very much my SweetHeart!  In December of 2010, I left the corporate world to become a House Wife!  So many good things came from quitting the workforce (and to think I was so afraid what was to come of turning in my resignation).  I let go of my fears and trusted God.  By reducing my stress and increasing my time, enabled me to focus more on my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and grow in Him!  It’s amazing!  I finally had the time to realize the importance of my relationship with God.  Although I’ve always been a believer, my thoughts and sight became clearer and stronger.  I made it a priority to spend time in The Word, my Husband & I even took the Trust further and began to tithe, we even started to volunteer in the Children’s Department at our Church.  So fun!

Speaking of Children, this was one of the bigger deciding factors as to why we prayerfully considered that I leave the workforce.  It is something that God has placed on our hearts, mine & My Husband’s desire to have children.   We wed in 2007 and had big plans for a family. But, as they say, our plans are never our own.  We have suffered several miscarriages.   It’s heartbreaking, but I trust in The Lord and in His will for our lives.  We are yet to have a child but we have grown closer to God and to each other.  In the meantime, we both have strived for health so that we can prepare ourself for pregnancy, if it is to happen again… God willing.   Please keep us in prayer!

Since beginning my adventure as a HouseWife, I was introduced to Couponing.  Wow!   I never knew that I could save so much money just by clipping coupons and pairing them with sale prices.  And, who would’ve thought that I could actually be paid to take products home? It’s crazy I say, just plain crazy.  The most interesting thing is, by couponing and being more in tune to our money output, we have cut our food bill in half.  I’m still blown away by this.  I hope to help you do the same with your grocery bills!

Through couponing, preserving our funds and having that need to find the best deal that I can, led me to something I never had dreamed of.  I competed in a National Competition with CheapSally with the hopes of winning a one-year blogging contract, valued at $100,000!  For the first two months, I had to market myself so that I could be the top vote-getter in Ohio.  I never thought that I could market, but promoting myself wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.  As it turned out, people actually like me!  And, they supported me.  I’m still amazed at how much support I had and am forever thankful for the same.  The final stage of the competition was a grueling one!  Each day a specific item was given for us to find the best online price of.   Sometimes it was if I was searching for a needle in a haystack!  Other days, I was able to find some pretty low prices but would spend hours continuing to search as it is ingrained in me that I MUST find the best deal that I can.  Although I did not win, I did place #1 in Ohio and #12 Nationally.  I tend to be a very humble person, but I have to say that I was, and am, proud of my achievements.  I placed well among several seasoned savers!

This competition has led  to even bigger and better things for me! I’ve made so many connections in the Blogging and Savings world. And, for an even more exciting part of my unexpected blessing… I was chosen by the CheapSally Team to be among a select few to start blogging for Bloggerlicious!  I am filled with so much anticipation, it’s just simply going to be AWESOME!   I have never blogged professionally before.  This blog is my first professional blog! I can’t wait to see what still lays ahead of me in the world of blogging.

I hope that everyone who stops by will be able to find something just for them!  If you have any suggestions, I am open to any and all.  Thank you so much for your interest and your support of my new ventures.  As you browse and follow my blog, I pray that it will encourage growth and joy in your life.  In which, is the very goal that I have for myself… continue to growGrow as a Person, Wife, Homemaker and more importantly as a child of God!  In speaking of Joy, I must first speak of Happiness. We seem to be in continual pursuit of happiness. To me, happiness is something that is effected by external factors.  Instead of always looking for the “happy” in everything, I’m choosing to seek JOY!  Joy is something that is found internally.  Something, that I have more control of.  If I seek joy, happiness is sure to follow :)

As I am learning more of how to become and be a professional blogger, I am still striving to learn how to be The Best House Wife that I can be!  I hope that you can grow along with me as we take on this new adventure!  You can also find me on FaceBook and follow me on Twitter too @WaSoTHRIFTINESS!

Again, Welcome to my blog… to my world!  It’s A HouseWife’s Life… with a side of Thriftiness!
God’s Blessings to You and Yours,

The little bit that you told about yourself is inspiring! To bad that there isn’t more people in this world who are like you, and look to God for help, inspiration, and encouragement. I don’t think I would have been as brave and strong as you if I encountered a miscarriage, but that is where your relationship with God comes into play. I just had a son (he is going to be 8 months old this month), and it took me a year to get pregnant. I didn’t think it was going to happened because of my family history, but it did! I was starting to feel down about everything. We got our son Baptized this past summer, and I read him the Children’s Bible that was given to him as a present every night before bed, we just need to start going to church more now. Especially when we are going through some tough times, I know that God will be there to help answer our questions, and that is something I want to teach our son….
I love couponing, but unfortunately, up here in Canada, we can’t coupon like you guys in the States :( I have managed to save a bit of money here and there while grocery shopping, but I wish I could save more.
Good luck in your personal life, couponing, and blogging!!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I always think… if I don’t have God, what do I have? He is my cornerstone, for sure! Congrats on your little one.. what a blessing. He’ll appreciate you instilling good morals in him. You’re an awesome mom! As far as couponing goes… can you take advantage of online coupon codes while residing in Canada? I wish I was more knowledgeable in saving money for Canadians. I do know that online coupon codes can save lots of money on your online purchases, I just don’t know how it would play out when it comes to the shipping (if it would truly be a saving). I’ll keep my eyes peeled for you!
